Who said you can only use a projector in a dark room?
A lot depends on the Screen. Above is a daylight screen, (actual photo) we have New and a few as new ex-demo models to clear!
• Home cinema projection screens such as Supernova’s unique home cinema models use active optical technology to enhance contrast and colours and at the same time diminish the disturbing reflections of light from windows and room lighting. They perform better than conventional screens in bright and dark environments.
|Projectors| With the right projection screen you can turn up the lights!
If you look at the picture below you will see that the room is not dark. Direct sunlight is to be avoided but you can have a satisfying experience in a softly lit room.

You will notice that the blacks won't be black as black is the colour of your screen without any light shining on it. For movie time and the popcorn good light control adds to that "Movie" experience.
This is a new DNP "Daylight" screen. Makes what I just said redundant! Pubs spend $100,000 on a 100 inch plasma when they could have had this at a fraction of the cost..
Unlike a Plasma screen this one lasts forever. With a "Daylight Screen" it's like being there, without the parking (Actual Image) ANSI = The ratio between the average brightness of 8 alternating white rectangles and the average brightness of another 8 alternating black rectangles. The screen is divided into 4 x 4 rectangles, specified by ANSI. Also called "Checkerboard" it's a more realistic way to test a projector than On/Off but not favored because of marketing concerns. ANSI TEST

"..I had a side by side demo this week of the Black Diamond and DNP Supernova screens. Their performance is a massive improvement over standard screens in ambient light. Comparing the two products is interesting. They both perform very similarly. We tested the high gain and low gain material from each manufacturer. The DNP had a slight advantage in half gain viewing angles. The Black Diamond had a slight texture when close up. To my eyes the DNP was the winner, and that's what I've ordered. For a 110inch fixed size the DNP was significantly better in price too.."
